Spend a Weekend in Olde Town Arvada Without Ever Moving Your Car
"After looking everywhere between Littleton and Boulder, I found something about a ten-minute walk from my house."
That's how chef Jeremy Wolgamott explained returning to Olde Town Arvada this spring after leaving his role as executive chef at Bistro Vendôme. He searched across the metro for the right opportunity before realizing it was practically in his own neighborhood.
That story says a lot about Olde Town today.
It's one of the few places along the Front Range where you can spend an entire weekend walking from breakfast to a farmers market, a festival, dinner, and even a concert without ever needing your car. August simply happens to be when that lifestyle is easiest to experience.
Park Once, Explore All Weekend
Olde Town Arvada isn't just a collection of shops and restaurants. It's a neighborhood designed around people instead of parking lots.
Park once and you'll find locally owned restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, boutiques, parks, public art, and the historic district all within a comfortable walk.
That's one reason the area has become one of the west metro's most desirable places to live. Whether you're meeting friends for dinner, browsing local businesses, or spending an afternoon on a patio, everything feels connected.
Saturday Comes Alive
The second Saturday of August is one of the busiest evenings of the summer.
Second Saturdays return to Olde Town with live music, local businesses staying open late, and a lively atmosphere throughout downtown. This year, the evening also includes the Olde Town Whiskey Fest, where visitors can sample whiskeys from Colorado and beyond while exploring Historic 57th Street.
Even if whiskey isn't your thing, the energy spills throughout downtown. Restaurants fill up, patios stay busy, and live music gives the entire district a festival atmosphere.
One thing I appreciate about Olde Town is that these events never feel overwhelming. They feel like an extension of the neighborhood rather than something taking it over.
Great Food Is Never Far Away
One of the newest additions to Olde Town this year is the refreshed Grandview Tavern & Grill, where Jeremy Wolgamott has introduced a Southern-inspired menu after years leading the kitchen at Bistro Vendôme.
It's another example of what keeps drawing people to the neighborhood. Independent restaurants continue investing here because there's enough foot traffic to support them, especially during the summer.
Of course, Grandview is just one stop.
Within a few blocks you'll also find longtime favorites like Homegrown Tap & Dough, School House Kitchen & Libations, Denver Beer Co., Arvada Tavern, along with coffee shops, bakeries, breweries, and locally owned businesses that make wandering downtown part of the experience.
The Arvada Center Adds Another Dimension
Walkability in Olde Town doesn't stop at restaurants.
Just up Wadsworth Boulevard, the Arvada Center continues its popular outdoor summer concert series, bringing nationally touring artists to one of the Front Range's best outdoor venues.
Depending on the weekend, it's easy to spend the afternoon exploring Olde Town before heading to an evening concert. That combination of local charm and larger entertainment options is something many communities simply don't have.
Sunday Slows Everything Back Down
If Saturday is about energy, Sunday feels completely different.
Every Sunday through late September, the Arvada Farmers Market fills Olde Town Square with local produce, baked goods, flowers, honey, artisan products, and fresh food vendors.
After the excitement of Saturday evening, the market becomes the perfect excuse to grab a coffee, wander through downtown, and enjoy a slower pace before another workweek begins.
It's one of those weekly traditions that makes Olde Town feel less like an entertainment district and more like a neighborhood.
Why People Love Living Here
August doesn't create Olde Town Arvada's appeal.
It simply showcases it.
The restaurants, parks, shops, concerts, breweries, and farmers market are here because people live here—not the other way around.
One of the things I like about Olde Town is that it doesn't feel isolated. You can spend the morning walking Golden, grab lunch, and still be back in Olde Town for Second Saturday, a concert, or dinner that evening. Between the RTD G Line into downtown Denver and Golden just minutes away by car, living here puts several of the Front Range's best destinations within easy reach.
That's what makes Olde Town different from many downtown districts that become quiet once an event ends. Here, the events simply highlight a walkable neighborhood that's active throughout the year.
